We have ambitious plans which involve the creation of a multidisciplinary team of more than 30 professionals – a team which has public service at its heart. We offer a full range of financial and commercial advisory and consultancy services to the NHS. We will help the NHS to deliver capital projects, collaborative structures and arrangements, contracting, clinical coding, financial analysis and assurance, modelling, data analytics, performance improvement, system transformation and the integration of healthcare, social care and life sciences. We behave as a single team and support each other across all of these areas of business, notwithstanding our individual specialities and areas of practice. You will also be working closely with public sector advisory colleagues who help local government in relation to social care, as well as those working on related real estate transactions and strategy.

Job Description

We are building very senior and experienced team who can establish our presence and credibility in this vital area of public service. We are looking for people with a passion for the NHS and for making universal healthcare the success that the people of the UK deserve.  We want people who are keen to work hand in hand with clients in the NHS, learning from them and working to help them serve their communities.  Successful candidates will be people who love to take time to understand clients and colleagues and help them to succeed, people who are looking to help clients to solve problems and deliver on the strategy, as part of their team.

Position Summary

We are looking to make an appointment into our team to develop and deliver transactions for NHS clients. We specifically are looking for candidates with experience of Capital projects & Collaborations such as mergers, joint ventures, partnerships, joint contracts or committees-in-common, Diligence for major transactions, financial reviews of organisations and systems and development of a single version of the truth and presentation within the NHS.  The candidate will assume a balanced portfolio of responsibilities across:

  • Marketing and business development
  • Proposal development
  • Project delivery
  • Team management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the delivery of major end-to-end client projects to quality, timeliness and financial targets and overseeing smaller projects
  • Coaching and developing junior colleagues, providing guidance and development
  • Close working with client management and stakeholders on assignments
  • Develop and build a network across the NHS and across Grant Thornton, in particular with our public sector audit colleagues, to identify commercial opportunities
  • Develop methods and knowledge within the healthcare team
  • Support and promote thought leadership pieces circulated to the NHS
  • Delivery of own and project targets in terms of utilisation, revenue and gross margin


  • Relevant university or professional qualifications

Experience and Skills

The following are the experience and skills that we would value in the successful candidate:

  • Experience of working on relevant projects, ideally within the NHS or working with the NHS in a similar consulting practice
  • Understanding of NHS operations, performance and finance
  • Awareness of current NHS policy and issues
  • Good project management skills with a record of delivering projects to time, quality and financial deadlines
  • Good inter-personal skills with the ability to build and develop a network of NHS clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience of reporting and presenting to clients or relevant stakeholders
