Team London is Mayor Sadiq Khan's volunteering programme. At Team London, we believe volunteering is a great way to help Londoners reach their full potential. We encourage all Londoners to actively give their time to make the capital a better place.

Through our programmes, we have a strong focus on building the next generation of volunteers and we deliver social action programmes in schools, colleges and universities. Our programmes include brokering volunteering opportunities for major events in London, focusing on tackling youth unemployment through volunteering and providing support and training for the third sector.

Volunteering has become even more important in London in the last year, with volunteers responding to local need, supporting communities, stepping up to support NHS Nightingale and the vaccine roll-out. The Volunteer Programmes Manager role provides an opportunity to build onTeam London’s response to Covid, to support the voluntary sector and continue to manage and improve the ongoing major events volunteering. 

Our major events volunteering programme includes Team London Ambassadors who are deployed across 9 locations for the busiest six weeks of the summer as the friendly face of London. It also includes deploying volunteers in response to events or crisis situations. Volunteers have supported sporting and cultural events such as London Marathon, Lumiere London and Ride London and will be leading the Host City welcome for the postponed Euro 2020 football tournament.  

We are looking for someone who is able to manage multiple projects, plan live events and work flexibly in Team London. An understanding of the voluntary sector and working with volunteers is important, as is the experience of developing and delivering training. A commitment to recruiting and supporting diverse volunteers is essential, one key area of responsibility is to continue to improve experiences of Black, Asian and minority ethnic volunteers and to continue to develop a team of volunteers that reflects London’s diversity.
