Time commitment: an average of 1 day per month
Lumos is an international children’s charity founded in 2005 by children’s author J.K.Rowling to end the harmful practice of institutionalisation of children. Lumos’ mission is to fight for every child’s right to a family by transforming care systems around the world. Our vision is for all children to grow up in safe and loving families.
We are looking for accomplished individuals who can demonstrate a strong passion and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the Lumos Foundation to join the UK Board of Trustees.
Lumos exists to light a path to a brighter future for children. We fight to tackle the causes of family separation and transform systems of care that take children away from their families and communities. We’re committed to ending the institutionalisation of children, so every child enjoys the right to grow up in a loving family where they can thrive.
Lumos is looking for candidates with senior experience in one or more of the following areas:
· Charity Fundraising (ideally in digital or events fundraising)
· Communications (ideally in public relations or marketing)
· Child and Youth participation
· Global and Regional advocacy
· Child development / child rights (programme-related experience)
· Child Protection / safeguarding
In view of our mission Lumos is especially keen to hear from candidates with lived experience of a children’s social care system
We are committed to creating and sustaining a positive working environment that encourages, supports, and gives a voice to all, so that we can best support the children we serve. We must ensure that all staff are equally valued, included, empowered, and respected across the organisation and in everything we do. Lumos is fundamentally built on diverse, multi-national and multi-cultural teams. This is something we cherish as a key strength and an integral part of our identity. Our organisation values and celebrates the diversity, culture and experience of each member of staff, provides equality of care, and support to everyone.
