The social integration team leads a broad portfolio of work relating to the Mayor’s Strategy for Social Integration (https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/communities/all-us-mayors-strategy-social-integration). Already a Mayoral priority, this work is of increasing importance in London’s recovery from Covid-19 and relates to a number of recovery mission areas including Strong Communities and Good Work(https://www.london.gov.uk/coronavirus/londons-recovery-coronavirus-crisis/recovery-context). You can read our case study report to find out more about what the team delivered in the first 18 months after the strategy was launched[https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/mol_londons_all_for_us_approach_to_social_intergration_report_digital_version_only_fa.pdf].
The Principal Social Integration Officer reports into the Social Integration Managers and plays a key role in the social integration management team. You will manage a warm and highly motivated team of three permanent members of staff and two temporary secondees– with potential team growth in 21/22 subject to budget approvals.
As Principal Social Integration Officer you and your job share will be jointly responsible for
- The high-profile Workforce Integration Network programme – working to create systemic change in London’s workplaces, with an initial focus on increasing opportunities for young black men in the construction and technology sectors
- Programmes to tackle loneliness and support Londoners to build relationships across difference
- Building on key work including the Social Integration Design Labs with local authorities (https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/all-us-mayors-strategy-social-integration/social-integration-design-lab) and research on Connective Social Infrastructure (https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/connective_social_infrastructure_0_0.pdf) to support key stakeholders to embed social integration principles into their work
The ideal candidate will be deeply concerned with relationships, participation and equality and will have a strong understanding of social integration policy. You will have experience of successfully managing a team and high-profile programme delivery with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
