What does London’s future look like? How do we create communities in which Londoners want to live, work and play? What will make London the best big city in the world?

These are just some of the questions we’re working to answer in the Opinion Research team at City Hall. But we can’t do this alone – a dialogue with and understanding of Londoners is essential, and that’s where this job comes in.

Are you passionate about using research to understand how people think, and using this to tackle big policy challenges? Do you have experience of delivering quantitative social research? This is your chance to do that in a sector leading social and opinion research team.

City Hall’s Opinion Research team works across policy areas to bring new insight from Londoners to develop policies that meet Londoners needs. We are experts at integrating research, data analysis and consultation into meaningful policy conversations, to meet the challenges of population growth, economic and environmental change. We use a range of tools: from traditional forms of consultation and social research, to innovative digital engagement.

An excellent communicator, committed to building partnerships, you will be well-versed in delivering, commissioning and designing quantitative research projects, working with research agencies and policy officers to deliver high quality insight on citizens’ opinions, perceptions and behaviours. A key part of this role will be managing a monthly online poll of 1,000 Londoners.

‘We will be hosting an open virtual lunchtime session on Tuesday 13th July from 12:30-13:30 where potential applicants can find out more about the role and the Opinion Research team, meet some of the current team, and ask us any questions you have. Please click here to view the Eventbrite page and to register for the event. Please note, this event is not mandatory – you can still apply to the role without attending.’

This role will be based at City Hall . The Mayor has announced that City Hall will be relocating from More London (London Bridge) to the Crystal Building  in the Royal Docks.  These roles will be based at The Crystal Building (from January 2022). Further information on the relocation announcement, can be found here.

London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
