BAME Recruitment are delighted continue their partnership with Hope and Homes for Children, supporting them in the recruitment of a Trustee who brings experience of programme delivery and safeguarding polices within a multi-mandate development or humanitarian organisation.
Hope and Homes for Children is working alongside governments and civil society organisations in over 30 countries to dismantle orphanage-based care systems. Setting themselves ambitious targets, their ten year aim is that by December 2027, worldwide, orphanages will no longer be an acceptable way to look after children.
This is exciting time to be part of the leadership of an organisation which is a global expert in the field of deinstitutionalisation. The following examples demonstrate some of the impact Hope and Homes for Children has had in its programme delivery:
- In Romania they have contributed to the reduction of the number of children in institutions by 94% and galvanised government commitment to close all remaining institutions and achieved landmark child protection reform.
- They have played a leading role in the systemic reform of the child protection system in Bulgaria, closing 20 institutions and reducing the number of babies and young children confined to in institutions by over 80%. They are working alongside the Bulgarian Government to see all institutions for babies closed by 2022.
- In Rwanda, they have helped build a strong national social workforce, assisted with the closure of 14 orphanages across the country and helped transition 1,338 children into families and communities.
The Board of Trustees is legally responsible for overseeing the responsible management of the organisation’s resources in carrying out its mission and compliance with charity law. As a Board, the members provide strategic guidance to the organisation, using their skills, backgrounds and contacts to assist the organisation in continuing to make a real difference to the lives of young people. You will share your track record in the humanitarian/development sector and programme delivery expertise with the board and executive team.
